What Al (Cabin Software) Studies/Teaches
My introduction to martial arts was when I was in elementary school (1960's) and started training in Judo. When in High School I trained in Shotokan karate. I had to take a sabbaticle from martial arts to attend college followed by 11 years on submarines as a Weapons Officer of course. In 1994, with my life a little more stabalized, I was able to resume my training. Since then I have been training in the Okinawan styles of martial arts, mainly karate, weapons and Iaido. In 2006, I opened my school "Martial Arts Training Center of North Idaho" and am currently just teaching karate and bojutsu. Hopefully, this forum will identify commonalities among SMAM users so that you can exchange ideas that will improve your schools.

I am a Human Resources (Computing Industry) professional by trade. Started training at Liz Mahler's Black Belt Karate Studios about 6 years ago, and started working as Program Director 2 and a half years ago. We study Shotokan and Kobudo, with a strong Xtreme Martial Arts program as well. We run 80 classes per week, 6 days a week from 6am to 9.30pm. I am madly training for my black belt grading the first weekend of June, as well as computerising all the dojo records including attendance and invoicing! Sleep is a rare commodity these days. I LOVE this program and each time I look at it, I find something else new that will work great at the Studio. We are opening multiple schools and this is a great way of getting the new schools up and running quickly. Thanks Al!

What I teach and study
I started in an Okinawan style of Karate called Tenshin-Kai over 12 years ago. I recieved my teaching certificate and black belt in that style in 2000 and have since started my own school and style called Blue Dragon. This is a mix of mainly Karate, modern Arnis and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, just for kids in the L.A. area. I am continuing training under women's world Jiu-Jitsu Champion, Leka Vieira and am also now an affiliate school of hers. I am hoping to use this program to help me manage a new studio and all my future students. I currently teach at a grade school in Hollywood and compete in BJJ tournaments.
