Scanner Issue Hi,
I use a scanner from Metrologic. The version of the scanner is Metrologic Voyager 9540.
My problem is, when I attempt to scan a barcode printed using the MA Manager program, it comes up on the top saying "Student not found."
The student is registered in the class I'm trying to scan for and the barcode is from the program itself.
Please get back to me soon. Thanks in advance for your help! And, let me know if you need any information on the scanner or my operating system.

Barcode scanners typically require some setting adjustments. Do a scan into the Products Screen to see what the scanner is reading.

Where/what is the Product Screen?
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

On the Selection Menu Screen which appears when you first open the program, click the Products & Services button. This will open the Products Screen. Click the Scan Barcode and Add Record button. This now makes the program ready to receive a scanned barcode and what is read by the scanner will appear in the Barcode No. text box. So if you scan the Student ID Card you can see what your scanner is sending to the program.

Alright, I scanned the ID card and this popped up in the box:

I would recommend referring to the scanner manual and make adjustments to the settings until it reads properly into the text box. I have only had to set up two barcode scanners so far and both were not easy.

What type of adjustments am I making to the scanner?

Your scanner should have came with a manual. There should be a settings section in this manual. Look for the settings that appear most appropriate and there should be a barcode in the manual for setting it. You may need to do multiple scans to get all the proper settings set.

I'm sorry to keep bothering ya and thank you so much for all your help so far.
But, what settings would be appropriate. The manual has 150 pages with different barcodes for different things, and anything that can narrow it down will help.

When I installed a Symbol LS190 series scanner I scanned "Set Defaults" followed by "Standard RS-232" followed by "Enable Convert to Code 39 for Wand Host". The main thing is to insure you select for reading Code 39.

Ok, I set the scanner to default then re-enabled it to scan code 39. Now, when I go to the products screen, instead of the gibberish I posted before, I get the student I.D number.
But, I still can't get the scanner to work with the student scanner screen. It comes up as the same, student not found, message. As well, when I click on the "i" on top of the student barcode scanner screen, it tells me that scanning is disabled.

Sounds like some progress has been made. SMAM is taking in what your scanner is feeding it. The fact that you are getting a message that states that the student is not found indicates that the scanner is sending something to the program. There is still a hardware issue which at this point I do not understand. Realize that there are many users of SMAM currently using barcode scanners without problems. If you are able to scan something into the Product screen, then save it as a product record and go to the Invoice screen, create an invoice record and see if you can scan in the product.
As a last resort, you can ship the scanner to me with the manual and I will try to figure out its problem then send it back to you hopefully with the fix.
The scanner diabling when you click on the "i" is not a problem. This is caused by focus coming off of a hidden text box that receives inputs for wedge type scanners.
