Calculating Taxes
When specifying a tax percentage it seems that the end calculation is rounding incorrection. Sometimes adding an extra $0.01 or subtracting it. The issue that I am having is that it is showing this as either a + or - balance owing on invoices. Also, is there a way to separate out taxes. We charge a different tax rate for services vs. products. Both contain a common tax percentage but products also must include a PST/HST tax. It would also be useful if the taxes were separated in the subtotal section of the invoice. Accurate tax calculations and reporting on the different tax types would be an asset. How are others dealing with multiply tax rates and reporting on them?

Can you give me an example of a charge and what is supposed to be charge for tax and what the program is calculating? The prgram is doing the math and should be rounding to the first to decimal places. As for tracking the two different taxes, is it as easy as just applying the two taxes percentages together then when you have to report at the end of the year how much you collected for each you split it up appropriately? For example, if you have to collect a 4% tax and a 1% tax then on the invoice screen put in a 5% tax. If at the end of the reporting period you collect $100 in taxes then you report $20 for the 1% tax and $80 for the 4% tax. Of course, if both taxes are not always applied together you will have problem and may want to just create a line item on the invoice for the tax to be applied. Hope this helps. If anyone else has a better approach, feel free to present it.

The issue that I am having is that I have to show the taxes separately on the invoice. For example, on apparel must charge 2 taxes; PST and GST however on services (membership fees, -*test*-('")ings, etc.) only PST is charged. I could create a report to pull out the information I need for year end however I am limited to showing it on invoices as there is only one tax line under the sub total. Can you also please explain how I can add taxes in as line items so that they calculate properly?

What I was thinking is just adding a line item onto the Invoice screen for the amount of one of the taxes. This will not get added into the total tax. I'm open to modifying the program for two types of taxes. It's just a matter of figuring out the best format. If you have a suggestion or sample, please send it to me.
